Using
hi tech handsets for each team, linking back to advanced computer
software, a quiz is one of the best ways to animate an audience.
With questions and results projected on a giant screen it gets people
talking in the first place, it stimulates interesting topics of
conversation and it gives everyone the chance to have a bit of a
laugh together.
Normally
a quiz works best at or around dinner time because your guests are
at their place at the table already. Each team at each table controls
one handset. This means that discussion, banter and group decision
are an essential part of the voting process.
The
key is for your quiz to be personalised to the people involved.
When people can relate to the quiz questions they feel relaxed and
ready to join in because they’re interested.
Why
A Quiz Works
Because everybody is different each quiz has a good variety of questions.
Some people look forward to the “What happens next?”
rounds, other people’s ears prick up at the “Name that
tune…” rounds, while others like rounds where they separate
the facts from the fiction..
The
most important thing is that the quiz is tailored to your specific
demographics. Someone who recognises The Beatles may not instantly
hum along to Coldplay. Someone who remembers Gone with the Wind
may not appreciate Pulp Fiction. The mixture of topics and the era
they come from is personalised to your group.
The
impact of your evening’s entertainment
is successful because the number and variety of questions in a quiz
is so flexible. The emphasis for your evening quiz is on fun. You
can still incorporate work-related questions and the balance between
work and play is very much up to you. Rounds are varied and include
something for everyone and the instant results projected on to the
big screen provoke an immediate reaction. What’s more, the
quiz always ends on a high.

Quiz Format
Alternative Format - Stick-em Up
This
is probably the liveliest quiz because it plays on the competitive
spirit of participants by using a unique and simple voting method
with a twist. Before the activity starts your teams will be given
four giant hands, one red, one blue, one green and one yellow.
Questions
are traditional and interactive. Some rounds require your teams
to move around the room, some rounds are specific to your industry,
company or competitors, others are musical and visual rounds that
can also be significant to your team or company.
Each
quiz question has four possible answers each with its own colour.
The hands are used to indicate which answer your team thinks is
correct by waving them in the air. When your team comes to a consensus
your table raises the appropriate coloured hand.
Before
announcing the correct answer, the Quiz Master gives teams 3 seconds
to change their answer based on the guesses of the other teams (clearly
visible from the hands being held high around the room). The element
of bluff and double bluff creates a frenzy of excitement.
EMG
quiz night events are suitable for 20 - 300 guests. Your Quiz Night
will usually run for up to 11/2 hours depending on numbers and format.
